“The reason why we need vertical farming is that horizontal farming is failing.”

“According to the recent studies, vertical farming is a groundbreaking concept that has the potential to help solve impending food shortages. It purely makes sense as the environment will benefit from it to a large extent. This bold idea will bring a sustainable future.”

Advantages:

Vertical farming has several potential advantages associated with it.

1. Year-round crop production as vertical farming multiplies the productivity of the farmed surface by a factor of 4 to 6 depending upon the crop (e.g., strawberries: 1 indoor acre = 30 outdoor acres).
2. No weather-related crop failures due to geological and meteorological events such as droughts, floods, earthquakes, wildfires or pests.
3. Vertical farming virtually eliminates agricultural runoff by recycling black water.
4. It food is grown organically eliminating the use of herbicides, pesticides or fertilizers.
5. It converts black and gray water into potable water by collecting the water released into the air by evapo-transpiration.
6. It greatly reduces the occurrence of many infectious diseases that are acquired at the agricultural interface.
7. It reduces the need of new farmland, restoring ecosystem functions and resources.
8. It adds energy back to the grid via methane generation from composting non-edible parts of plants and animals.
9. Vertical farming dramatically reduces fossil fuel use as no tractors or plows are required.
10. It converts deserted urban properties into food production centers.
11. It creates sustainable environments for urban centers.
12. It opens new avenues for employment
13. Vertical farming may prove to be useful for integrating into refugee camps.
14. It offers the promise of measurable economic improvement for tropical and subtropical LDCs. If this should prove to be the case, then VF may be a catalyst in helping to reduce or even reverse the population growth of LDCs as they adopt urban agriculture as a strategy for sustainable food production.
15. It could reduce the incidence of armed conflict over natural resources, such as water and land for agriculture.

Ponder on this…On the same acre of land that cattle are raised, we can grow 20 times more food growing vegetables.
Now, say you have a one story hydroponic green house covering that acre, growing in ten layers inside it, that is 200 times more food.
Times ten stories = 2000 time more food grown on an acre than raising cattle.

Now, Imagine Ten of these Sky Farms in your City.

Why do I like Hydroponics ?

Raw Organic Food = Super Human Health for the Human race.
More grown in less space = Better use of land.
Uses less energy = Efficient

By growing our own Organic Fruits and Vegetables we save even more energy and get Organic food with even more Love in it.

Shopping at Farmers Markets is an alternative to growing our own that will help us Individually and Globally. The more of us shopping at Farmers Markets, the more they will flourish, and more people will find them and more people will be eating Organic, hopefully Raw, and becoming Healthier, Happier, more Conscious Souls.

When we are eating Organic Raw Foods and Superfoods, are bodies cells are getting what they need and are not having to use extra energy to deal with processing and eliminating that which the body does not need and is harmful to it. So, with eating organic raw food, are bodies have more energy for other things, like thinking and intuition and of course Playing. =)

As we each become more Conscious, we raise the Vibration of the Whole Planet, we Realize and Manifest a life Living in a Higher Vibration. Living life more as an Immortal Infinite Soul than a mortally conscious human.

As Souls Living in a higher realization of being Divine Infinite Souls-God-Beings, what will our lives as a Global Nation be like ?

With farmers who are wanting to switch to Organic Farming having to not have used there land for 7 years before going organic, so the fertilizers, pesticides and stuff can be washed from the soil, it makes it tough to get started.

An answer would be to take an acre or two and build Hydroponic Green Houses, growing in layers they can get at least ten times the yield per acre.

This way farmers could keep on growing on the rest of there land while expanding there Hydroponic Green Houses for growing more Organic Raw Food.

I live in a studio apartment and want to grow some vegetables and sprouts for myself and my son Joshua, So I am very interested in Hydroponics and exploring what my possibilities are for my current situation and once I have a house again.

“Certain gifts this Christmas allowed me to build a simple aeroponics system. In aeroponics, the roots are suspended in a fog of nutrient solution. Since the particles are so small the roots absorb the nutrients at a higher rate than they would in soil or liquid nutrient solution. Since the roots are suspended in air, they also get the maximum amount of oxygen. Supposedly, aeroponics works better than hydroponics. I guess I’ll find out!

I learned about Hydroponics years ago, as you may have too. Recently I’ve been wondering if there are small units I could use in my apartment, so I am doing some research about it, and thought I would post about it and some of the Blogs I find with great information about Indoor Hydroponics.
